If you are just starting out, or already in business, I recommend ClearCart wholeheartedly. I'll go further and say that it just might be the best thing you ever did for your business.
There are "free" ecommerce solutions, and there are definitely solutions that cost less than ClearCart, but the old adage "you get what you pay for" is true. When you get a free cart, you really have to be able to hire a programmer to help you manage and configure it. When you go with a low-cost cart, the issue is more likely to be that it's very hard to get a response to your requests for help; or you get a reply, but the reply is short, late, and not terribly helpful.
Doing business with ClearCart is like buying your suits at a famous old tailor's shop in New York, where each suit begins with measuring you to figure out what will make you look your best, and ends with a garment that you will wear for years to come. You pay for the quality, and you receive the quality--and not just for a season.
We really can't say enough about ClearCart, because the professional attitude, quick, courteous service, and the sheer beauty and ease of the software itself seems to us to be unparalleled. Many software companies outsource their projects to foreign companies, to keep costs ridiculously low. ClearCart appears to have decided instead to keep the costs reasonably low, and the quality ridiculously high. Although we are an international manufacturing company we find employing American technicians simplifies communications, from the software development, right down to the elegant and simple design.
I'm not a computer-savvy business owner. HTML? What's that? The Laurel Hill site is easy to use, and lets me have precise control over categories and products, text pages, images, and much, much more. Best of all, I can give different members of my staff different levels of access--a truly valuable feature in an age of security consciousness.
Having such an easy and powerful site has freed up my time for the important work I need to do, with production and shipping. Additionally, the design is so sensible and simple. If you're like me, you'll receive frequent appreciative emails from your customers, who tend to respect and trust a web site when it is presented in a professional, uncluttered manner.
